Christmas in Natchez

Well, I made it through hosting my first family Christmas. The boys had a great time! Santa was good to them! As you can see....

Patrick's family joined us for Christmas this year. We had Daddy Don, Grammie, Uncle BB, Lacey, Uncle Casey, and Aunt Jamie. It was a little crowded in our tiny little den with 10 people plus presents, but we had a good time.

The festivities started with the Santa Parade on Christmas Eve. In Natchez we have a Santa Claus committee and they have a parade of cars through town starting at 7:30 a.m. and it goes on until who knows when. Well, they made it to us about 10:40 a.m. and the boys saw Santa and got lots of candy. That evening we headed to the Christmas Eve service at Jefferson Street; it was very nice. A little sad at the end of the service to hear the benediction (my friend Faye always did the benediction at church and I haven't been in church for a benediction since she died.-I do still go to church, I'm just gone out with the children by then) We came home and Mason lit the candles on our advent wreath; then he and Cooper opened up their Christmas p.j.'s and it was off to bed.

Our Christmas day started at about 7 a.m. when I got up to go to the bathroom and when I came out Mason was waiting at his door. I let Mason wake Cooper up and we went to see what Old St. Nick left for us!! Mason was very excited about his bike; Cooper wasn't sure what to make of it all at first, but he caught on quick. From there we went straight outside to ride the new bike and new jeep. It was great entertainment while we waited to Uncle BB, Lacey and Aunt Jamie to get to the house from the camp. As soon as they arrived we headed inside to open presents. We had soooooo many gifts that we opened in shifts! 1st the right half of the tree then the left. We watched the boys rip through their presents and in between breaks enjoyed opening gifts of our own. Everyone lounged around for awhile, then we headed next door to Aunt Linda's for Christmas dinner. It was very good! After stuffing ourselves sick, we headed back to the house. Daddy Don and Grammie had to get on the road and the rest of our company was not far behind them. After getting everyone off we rested for awhile and then decided to go to Vidalia to see the lights on the levee. Cooper didn't even make it out of the neighborhood before he was asleep! Mason, Patrick and I enjoyed the lights and headed home-Mason didn't make it home! We unloaded the boys and went straight to bed ourselves. It was a long, but enjoyable day!
